RMTS 2008 - Day 1 - Angul District Facts.

(RMTS is acronym for Rural Mathematics Talent Search. An educational initiative for Orissa, secondary school students, in it’s 5 year of operation.)

Dear Friends:

This is day 1 of campaign for RMTS 2008, to be conducted for the 6 th consecutive year.

To day’s district is: ANGUL
Date of Test: 2nd November, 2008

Last date of Application: October 1, 2008

Achievements up to RMTS 2007:

RMTS 2005: Blocks covered: 58 No of centers : 81 Participation: 4678 Scholarships: 165

RMTS 2006 Blocks covered: 162 No of centers: 280 Participation: 19928 Scholarships: 201

RMTS 2007 Blocks covered: 200 No of centers: 354 Participation: 18887 Scholarships: 201

Participation: 125 per block(40 thou)
Scholarships: 201
Camp Plans:
6 camps for each batch. 1st batch (RMTS 2003) camps completed. The 1^st batch kids will be out of secondary schools, in 2008. Other 4(four) batches, i.e. 2004, 2005 and 2006 and 2007 are going to be in camp by the end of April 2008.

Math Olympiad Successes thus far:

Himalaya Senapati of RMTS 2003 and Bhadrak district was selected for the Indian Astronomy Olympiad team. He went to Cremia, Ukraine in Europe and earned a silver medal

Participation increased from 1 block, 30 students in 2005 to 4 block & 762 students in 2007.
