RMTS 2008 - Day 3 – BARGARH Facts...

(RMTS stands for Rural Mathematics Talent Search. An initiative for Orissa, secondary school students.

It is already a 6 year old operation.

Dear Friends:
This is day 3 of campaign for RMTS 2008, to be conducted for the 6th consecutive year.
Date of Test: 2nd November, 2008

Last date of Application: October 2, 2008

Achievements up to RMTS 2007:

RMTS 2005: Blocks covered: 58 No of centers : 81 Participation: 4678 Scholarships: 165

RMTS 2006 Blocks covered: 162 No of centers: 280 Participation: 19928 Scholarships: 201

RMTS 2007 Blocks covered: 200 No of centers: 354 Participation: 18887 Scholarships: 201

Blocks covered: 314
No of centers: 500
Participation: 125 per block(40 thou<) Scholarships: 201

Camp Plans:
6 camps for each batch. 1st batch (RMTS 2003) camps completed. The 1^st batch kids have reached 10^th grade and will be out of secondary schools, in 2008.
Math Olympiad Successes thus far:

Himalaya Niranjan Senapati of RMTS 2003 and Bhadrak district was selected for the Indian Astronomy Olympiad team. He went to Simeiz, Crimea, Ukraine in Europe and earned a silver medal. We are exited and we hope this tradition will continue

For this district we need lot of help as 5 blocks have never been covered and two we held one year and lost:

Total Number of Blocks in Bargarh: 12

RMTS 2005: Blocks Covered: Attabira, Barpali & Bheden Centres: 3 No. of Students 185

RMTS 2006: Blocks Covered: Attabira, Bheden & Sohella Centres : 4 No. of Students : 271

RMTS 2007: Blocks Covered: Attabira, Barpali, Bheden, , Bijepur, Gaiselet, Jharbandh, Centres : 10 No. of Students : 574

Blocks to be covered: 6

(Ambabhon, Bargarh, Sohella, Bhatli, Padampur, Paikamal).

We have to find why we lost Sohella in 2007.

I have provided the e-address of Bargarh Block Development Officers and you can write to them and liaison with them if you have a friend or relative, in that area, particularly uncovered blocks.
I would appreciate if you write back to me and extend help by taking responsibility of one of 314 blocks, even if they are covered, or any way you like to contribute, so that we can run a quality RMTS 2007 truly unearthing rural talents, who otherwise will wither away.
